South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut

So, it's time for the movie. Now, I'm gonna use my old review I wrote in finnish as a base here. Of course I'll translate it for you. It was written back in 2005.. Boy, what difference does four years do (I was 16 back then and took everything little too seriously). I was little too harsh on the film, but let's get to that when I've done the quoting:

"South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut is a horrific movie; It's bad even for a South Park. There's too much songs and it breaks the unity of the film. It would have been better of by just staying series. Half an hour a week is enough and only works when you're tired and can't think anymore. It's funny only partly when you watch it the first time and by the third time it makes you cry. The record of most swearing in an animated film is a terrible merit."

What a retard, right? Now, I just watched the movie and then checked back what I wrote back in 2005. I remembered writing it and where I found it, but I didn't read it in advance nor remembered what I said in it. Of course I remembered not liking it that much. But I must say that I am amazed how harsh I was. Now I'm not going to defend myself, otherwise this will become my defence speech instead of a movie review, so I'll just say, that I was second biggest douche in the world and just plain ignorant thinking I know something about something.

Now to commenting the movie itself. It's anything but horrific. It isn't bad for a South Park. It's actually very good. I can't really blame it for having much songs; it is a musical after all. I guess I didn't realize it. Besides, I don't know what crack I was smoking, the songs doesn't break the unity of the film, instead it makes it flow fluently. It's refreshingly different from the series and that's the way it should be - if it wouldn't, it could have been just few episodes at the start of the third season. I don't know how many times I've seen this film (probably haven't even seen it three times back then), but it's at least the four years I've last seen this film before today. I didn't remember it exactly, but some parts obviously. But it still made me laugh and definitely not cry. I can't really say that this movie is classic though, but still it's a good film and it leaves you feeling good after watching it - something that not every episode of the series can do. Now about the record the movie made - well the whole point about the movie is actually to say that swearing is not that bad. I guess they proved some point by managing to make good film after all that swearing.

If this is a musical then the whole point is the songs. Let's go over them.

It's starts with Stan singing "Mountain Town" and everybody at the town joining in while he's moving around. Now everybody probably knows this shit so I don't need to go over it all the time. It advances the story fittingly and you can't seem to get it out of your head after watching the movie. When I think about the movie, this song it the first that comes to my mind (Blame Canada close second).

Then after brief moment of usual cartoon Terrance and Phillip start to sign "Uncle Fucka" in the movie. Now this is a song that pretty much everybody knows. I remember that we had a record panel in school back when I was in the 6th grade. Somebody brought in this song and all of us kiddies loved it. In fact, I remember campaigning with couple of other kids briefly before we vote for it to win. South Park was cool (even though that back then I haven't seen the movie nor too much of the series) and "Uncle Fucka" was the shit. It had a landslide win at the record panel (If I remember correctly, the second in the record panel was Eminem's Under the Influence. Our favourite part was "So you can suck my dick if you dont like, my shit". Of course we all knew what that meant and that's why it was so cool again! But now I'm going too much off topic). So this was the song that all of us kids loved a lot and found funny. I don't find it that funny anymore, but it doesn't matter. As you can see from my off-topic, this brings me memories. I wish I was a kid again.

What the fuck am I writing, I should be writing a review, not a fuckin' memoirs. Now, see, that movie ruined my fuckin' language too. Time to "Blame Canada"... Wait a minute, no no. It's some couple of random, and useless songs in between. There's "It's easy, Mmkay", which is just plain tedious, but reveals something about what's Mr. Mackey really saying when he says "mmkay". Then there's Stan singing "Wendy's Song" (in fact, the Wendy's song comes first, I just fucked up somehow). This made me cringe back when I was little boy, in fact it's still too cheesy for me. Makes me want to throw up. Not in a same way Stan does, though.

Well, there's one fair song too before "Blame Canada". It's fuckin' James Hetfield singing "Hell Isn't Good". Should have been "Hell's Bad, Mmkay?" I don't give a shit about Metallica (even though I consider myself a metalhead), but it's approriate that Hetfield's doing this song and it really fits in.

Then FINALLY there's "Blame Canada". It's a catchy and memorable song, nothing special, but I like the rhymes and such. Nice little song and really advances the plot.

We hear a little bit about Wendy again, but then Cartman gets the show going on by singing "Kyle's Mom A Bitch". It's funny song, and completely true too, Kyle's mom is a big fat fuckin' bitch and we all hate him. She is actually the villain of the movie, after all. The different countries singing the song is a nice twist. The African version really made me laugh.

Then it's the "What Would Brian Boitano Do?" -song. This song embodies most the movie's song. It's catchy and fun, and the fact is that it's hard not to like it. I mean, it's like rainbows, everybody likes them, right? Same goes with this song and many other's from this movie. Some songs of course can be a little offensive, but if you get offended, you deserve to get, because you're a fuckin' jerk!

Satan singing then "Up There" is just ludicrous. This is a bit of a bore, and you'd rather fast forward it, because it doesn't advance the plot. Though it gives us insight about Satan's thoughts. So it's still not that bad.

"La Resistance" starts out bit annoingingly, but it's not the song, it's the fact that that arrogant Gregory piece of shit starts to sing it. It merges with the other song's becoming almost a "marathon" and then the song ends and the movie's climax is escalating.

Then there's bit from hell and Saddam sings "I Can Change". I don't really see why this made Satan change his mind about Hussein.

Then there's "I'm Super", by Big Gay Al. It's a bit gay for my taste, but what did I expect anyway?

Finally there's "Mole's Reprise" as The Mole dies and finally we'll hear again about the "Mountain Town and all's swell again. Now I'm not going to the credits with shit, this must be enough.

So, to the conlusion. It's a good movie. Not the best I've seen, not even the best cartoon I've seen, but I don't know whether it should be even compared to anything else. I'll come back to it some day for sure. I'm glad I did this review.

It's bigger, longer and uncut like the movie was. But as the show did, we'll start with the third season like nothing ever happened. Though the show's third season was already on air while this movie came out, but whatever, rather do this between the seasons.

As for the rating, not the South Park scale, I'll use my ordinary movie scale of 1-5 stars.. and it's ****

I'll be back with the third season's episodes soon.

Season Two Cooler (Episodes 17 & 18)

Episode 17: Gnomes
This is a fairly good episode. It's not one of the greatest, but it still a bit better than what the standard has been so far. The episode addresses corporate takeovers as it's more serious side. The more comical side of the episode are Mr. Tweek's constant metaphors about his coffee and the whole debate. The Prop 10 commercial is amusing. It's hard to say anything else about this episode, it had few good jokes amongst those but nothing worth mentioning. I'll give this episode 4/10.

Episode 18: Prehistoric Ice Man
I don't know about this episode. It tries to be funny with treating 1996 guy as "Prehistoric Ice Man", but for me it didn't work. Most of the time you're just frustrated by the absurd idiotism of people treating 1996 guy like animal. Well, at least the part where he met his former wife raised some smiles on me. So I guess this falls into the 1-category of the ratings. It's watchable, but that's it. 1/10.

Revision: I don't know, the Britney's new look -episode set the bar much lower, so in fact I'd think it's more of a 2/10 episode. It's a bit dull, but still, I had good time watching it again. Besides, there's pretty unique Kyle-Stan -dynamic here. I wasn't as frushtrated as I was in my original viewing for this episode's absurdities, guess I'm getting used to it.

So, second season is now finished reviewing. It averaged rating of 3,33. So it's worse than first season, but not by that much after all. But maybe there's some truth in the fact that movie affected season two.

I guess I also watch the movie again and give it too review since it has it's place in the South Park timeline. The movie was released in the middle of the third season, but I guess it was pretty much made before the season started - so it's next in line. But not today.

Season Two Is Long (Episodes 14-16)

Episode 14: Chef-Aid
Well, what should I say.. It's once again one of those not too funny episodes, but I can't still say this sucked. It's interesting to hear about how Chef helped many artists in early days, there are couple of decent jokes thrown in there too. Chef is seemingly the most sane adult in South Park, yet he still thinks he could raise enough money by having sex with every woman in town. The record produced is shallow character, but you really start to hate him. I mean, he's so irritating and arrogant. You feel pleased when he loses the case in the end. The most famous joke in this episode is of course the Johnny Cochran's Chewbacca defence. What do I have to say about it.. Well, that does not make sense when you think about it.. 4/10.

Episode 15: Spooky Fish
It's the second Halloween-episode and I have to say it's golden. So many great moments here. Just the way it starts, Halloween episode couldn't start much better - some irrelevant alien gets ran over and then you see the scariest shit ever - nice Cartman. Besides, he looks ridiculous with that beard. So there's two Cartman which means twice as much fun - actually more than twice, since the good Cartman is so nice it makes you laugh even more than ordinary Cartman. Like when the boys haven't yet realized that there are two Cartmans and good Cartman (referred as evil Cartman in the episode) sings overly happy song about how good friends they are. I rarely laugh out loud, but this still made me do it. The spooky fish is really spooky and the episode manages at times to create the feeling that something's really fucked up. It's Hella good episode (have to use that one too) and I rate it.. 8/10.

Episode 16: Merry Christmas Charlie Manson
It's time for the Christmas-special and it pretty fucked up right there too. I said about the last episode that two Cartmans are twice as fun, and now you've got whole family of Cartmans. All the standard Cartman-traits are there and it works. But it's overall nothing nearly as good previous episode, but it's still fairly good. Who came up with the idea to link Christmas with Charlie Manson? I'll give this episode 5/10, pretty much because of the Cartmans..

So, leaves 2 episodes for the finisher. I'll probably make it tomorrow night.

Still Season Two (Episodes 11-13)

Episode 11: Roger Ebert Should Lay Off The Fatty Foods
So, apparently this episode is filled with Star Trek -references. I don't know shit about Star Trek, so I probably miss some jokes, like some of you missed the Godzilla-jokes in the "Mecha-Streisand". This episode had it moments, best being the Cartman's singing and "not picking his nose". Not to mention that Officer Barbrady as Elvis is just hilarious. But overall, it falls pretty much to the same averageness than episodes prior to it. There was many little details that didn't make sense to me. I mean, for example the "Plane..arium".. Should that refer to something or be funny? I just don't get it. I'll give this episode 3/10.

Episode 12: Clubhouses
Now this episode is one of the highlights of the second season. It has several memorable moments, like Bebe's remarks of Kyle's ass. I mean putting it into the context of 8-year old simple cartoon characters, it's ludicrous, but it'd be funny enough as it is. Fat Abbot just rules. Then there's Roy, who's dick. The subplot between Randy and Sharon is absurd, but it works okay. Then there's the recurring theme of Cartman doing better (although most of the time he really doesn't do any better in anything) when they set to do something. I mean, he gets hes' clubhouse ready before Stan and gets the chicks too, but doesn't get them to play truth or dare anyway. Something like this happens in later episodes many times, but I'll get to that then. I rate this episode.. 7/10.

Episode 13: Cow Days
This was another one of those sub-standard episodes - especially after Clubhouses. It really highlights the fact that this wasn't that good of an episode. It was as lame as the rides in the carnival. The Full Metal Jacket references is the best bit of this episode and they're pretty far-fetched. It's 1/10, I'm sorry.

Revision: Well, I see from my spreadsheets that I have rerated this episode to 2/10. Can't really remember the reasons, but to bee honest, this is that bad, so 2/10 is in order.

Season Two Goes On (Episodes 8-10)

Episode 8: Summer Sucks
This is another episode that's got nothing really special going on. I mean it's fun to watch when you got nothing better to do like all the other South Park episodes and there are couple of decent jokes, but there's still nothing special. On the storyline-side there's some stuff going on though, since Mr. Hat disappears. Chef's song "Simultaneous" is cool. Rating 2/10.

Episode 9: Chef's Salty Chocolate Balls
Well, pretty much everything of interest in this episode is Chef's Salty Chocolate Balls. I mean, everything revolving around Chef's balls must be good stuff, right? So it doesn't have that much of an interesting stuff going on but Chef's ideas and song are just great. There's couple of other decent jokes too, but on the overall there could have been much more. I mean, film festival setting leaves many potential jokes. But anyway, it's good episode, I'll rate it 4/10.

Episode 10: Chickenpox
Cartman singing "In the Ghetto" is just classic. If I remember correctly, there's proper version
of this song later on in the show , but I'm not sure, I'm not nerd enough to remember it. It's a decent episode, but like a few before it, it lacks the cutting edge. There's nothing as prominent jokes as "Chef's balls" going on. Though I have to say that the asstransplans-thing on Terrance & Phillip is ludicrous. I'll rate this episode 2/10.

These were short ones, but didn't care to write anything about the plot since most of you remember then anyway and didn't have much to say about it anyway.

Season Two Continues (Episodes 4-7)

Episode 4: Ike's Wee Wee
Doing drugs is always funny. What is also funny is Mr.Mackey impressions from the boys, mmkay? Mkay. Mr. Mackey gets fired after passing up a marijuana sample to the class, and ends up doing all the stuff he was preaching against. As I said, it's when the things get funny. Mr. Mackey's tripping head floating by the boys is prime example of this. At the same time there's subplot about Ike's circumcision, but not much to say about it, expect for that this is the episode that Kyle finally learns the (obvious) truth - Ike's canadian. But in the end, it doesn't even matter. It rounds up to be quite a nice episode. I'll give it.. 5/10

Episode 5: Conjoined Fetus Lady
Well, that fetus is just disgusting. The dodgeball part in this episode was much more interesting and the fetus thingie just wasn't funny. When it comes to dodgeball, Pip really has it going on. At least when he's being called french. Pip singlehandedly leads South Park to world champions, but nobody gives a shit in the end. How suprising. All in all, this episode had it moments, but not as many as I would've like to seen. 2/10

Revision: I really underrated this episode. Yes, the fetus is appalling, but that doesn't really matter that much. After all, there's the great song made for mrs. Gollum etc. The conclusion after winning world championship is somewhat anti-climatic, yet funny. 4/10.

Episode 6: The Mexican Staring Frog of Southern Sri Lanka
This episode was rather dull and for me, it falls in to the same category as Volcano. For some reason, episodes with Jimbo and Ned as a main driving force tend to be boring. There was couple of semi-good Vietnam-jokes, but nothing that special. 1/10

Revision: Now I can't relate to my own opinions at all. I made a really poor review overall anyway. This is actually ok episode with some pretty funny jokes, it's just that it's a bit a mess and things get out of hand. But still, there's the black man talking about Michael Jackson, and the Vietnam-jokes are AT LEAST semi-good. I give it 3/10 now.

Episode 7: City on the Edge of Forever
This is a reminiscing episode. Now we've seen every show on earth pretty much having one of these, but this is bit different from what we're used to - the memories are somewhat fucked up. Kids gets stuck in a bus after and accident, so they start to talk about memories of bad situations they were. As I said they don't remember everything correctly, Stan is constanly kissing Wendy and everything has something to do with ice cream - in the end we find out that this was after all just Stan dreaming about Cartman dreaming. Man that's confusing. It's pretty much recycling old jokes with a twist and it's all fine. I'll give it a rating of 3/10.

Season Two (Episodes 1-3)

Episode 1: Terrance and Phillip Not Without My Anus
Now I'm not a fan of Terrance and Phillip and I doubt that anyone is that much of a their fan. So to think this comes in just when everyone was anticipating to see who's Cartman's father, I can only imagine the dissapointment. So it's a whole episode of Terrance and Phillip and it pretty much farting. Nothing funny here. One of the worst episodes made. I mean, I know that the whole episode is a joke itself, since it was aired on April Fool's day, but still. Well, there's one positive, the theme music at least is cool, too bad we hear it only at the beginning and at the ending credits. 1/10

Episode 2: Carman's Mom Is Still a Dirty Slut
While the first part of this two-episode story was a classic, I think this second part doesn't live up to the expectation. According to the Wikipedia this episode was rushed due to fans getting angered by the Terrance and Phillip-episode and I guess it goes to show. This episode relies heavily on repetition. There's the running gag "Who shot Mephesto?" "Who build the pyramids", etc. and Cartman's mom misunderstanding abortion. Se then sleeps with congressman, governor and finally the president. Nothing that funny that would make this a classic episode, but it's still an important episode in the South Park timeline revealing that Cartman's dad is his mom. Now that's fucked up right there. So it's and anti-climatic ending to all that wait. I rate this 3/10, despite all the negatives. There's a few decent jokes after all.

Episode 3: Chickenlover
As a whole, this episode is nothing special. But the Cops-spoofing that goes on and expecially the scenes involving Cartman are just classic. The whole setting in this episode is plain absurd. At least boys acknowledge it in the end when the book mobile driver tells about his master plan. Simply because of the Cartman-scenes, I'll give it 4/10.

Season One Finisher (Episodes 10-13)

Episode 10: Mr. Hankey, the Christmas Poo
I'm not that big of a Mr. Hankey fan or South Park christmas episode fan. Not all of the Christmas-episode are that bad but still overall I'd rather watch other episodes. But let's get to this episode. Mr. Garrison's and Kyle's mom's discussion lays foundation to the rest of the episode and Kyle is deserted because he is a jew. Then we hear "sad" song about being jew in Christmas and all you're thinking during the song is "c'mon, get on with the episode already". Kyle also tells about Mr. Hankey, but nobody else believes in Mr. Hankey and Kyle is ridiculed. Everybody else sees Mr. Hankey as just ordinary piece of shit so when Kyle brings him to school, more trouble arises for him. These kinds of things always frustrate me; You know that character is telling the truth but nobody believes him. Kyle ends up in a mental institution. "Kyle's Mom Is A Bitch in D Minor" is of course hilarious song and it along with Chef's song is on the positives of this episode. Then there's of course the comical Mr. Hankey commercial. Kenny survives the whole episode for the first time although there is many moments during the episode where you anticipate Kenny dying. I rate this episode 2/10.

Revision: While I still agree most of the points of the episode, I still think I gotta give it much more credit. I mean, it's Mr. Hankey's debut, Kyle's Mom Is a Bitch is a great song and the Chef's song alone merit 4/10.

Episode 11: Tom's Rhinoplasty
This episode gets on with Wendy talking to Stan about some ridiculous imaginary cruises and this makes Cartman laugh uncontrollably. It's ridiculous alright, but it's the Cartman's laughter that makes it really funny. Mr. Garrison gets a rhinoplasty so they get a substitute teacher, Ms. Ellen (voiced by Natasha Henstridge, "the chick from Species"). All the boys fall in love with her and we see again the classic smile, which we have first seen in first episode by Stan, this time by all the boys, except Kenny, though we don't know what happens under his hood. Later on the episode Chef tells the boys that Ms. Ellen is lesbian, but doesn't tell the boys what lesbian exactly is. The boys figure that they must become lesbians themselves to get Ms. Ellen and it's followed by scene where Cartman tells that his mother told him that to become a lesbian, he has to lick carpet.. What? So anyway, Mr. Garrison turns out looking like David Hasselhoff and starts "hanging out and screwing hot chicks", leaving his job as a teacher. Ms. Ellen gets a permanent position as a teacher much to Wendy's dismay. The end is surprising, Mr. Garrison gets assaulted by bunch of women and he goes to get the rhinoplasty reversed and Ms. Ellen is arrested by bunch of Iraqi men. I'm not all okay with that ending, but whatever. Despite the ending, I'll give this episode a rating of 3/10.

Episode 12: Mecha-Streisand
This is just a ridiculous episode, and I mean in a good way. It makes fun of Godzilla-movies (and other movies of the genre) and is spot on. I mean that you could see as funny shit as this in a real Godzilla-movie. I don't care to talk about the first half of the episode, since it is after Barbara Streisand turns tu Mecha-Streisand where this episode starts to kick ass. The ludicrous singing sounds just like it would be from Godzilla-movie. Mecha-Streisand lays waste of South Park and she's tried to stop by Leonard Maltin as a giant robot (looking like Jet Jaguar, though Jet Jaguar is much more scary) and then by Sidney Poitier looking like Gamera. Along with them there's of course the army like in million Godzilla-flicks. All of them fail and finally Robert Smith of The Cure comes to beat Mecha-Streisand by transforming into Mothra-like monster. Even Jesus then celebrates Robert Smith as a "Saviour". If you aren't familiar with Godzilla-movies, you'll of course lose some of this episodes magic, but you should definitely educate yourself. Quickest route is via Cinemassacre's Godzillathon. It's a real crash course through Godzilla-movies. As for this episode, I rate it 6/10.

Added later: Now I know that not everybody like this episode. I guess you really miss the point if you're not familiar with Godzilla and other giant monster movies, like I stated in the review.

Episode 13: Cartman's Mom Is a Dirty Slut
Another timeless classic. Cartman's tea party scene is one of the best South Park scenes ever. I mean, honestly, it still makes me smile although I've seen the scene many times. The flashback scenes from The Drunken Bar Dance are just there to state the obvious, that Cartman's mom is a slut. There's a running gag of music playing over and over again when Liane Cartman sees another guy/guys she's interested. It hasn't taken the multiple viewings as well as Cartman's tea party, but I can't blame the episode for the fact that I'm watching this shit all too much. Another classic moment is when Mr. Garrison shouts out that Who hasn't had sex with Mrs. Cartman and many townsfolk cast guilty glances on each other, especially seeing Jesus there made me laugh. Episode ends with cliffhanger and we would know who is Cartman's dad in season 2. It's great episode, I'll give it 8/10.

First season conlusion
So now I have watched the first season once again and rated every episode. First season averaged a rating of 3,92. It's a fair season with couple of real classic episodes, but some low points also. It's not the best season on whole, but there's worse too.

Season One Coming Closer to Closing (Episodes 7-9)

Season one goes on..

Episode 7: Pinkeye
First Halloween-episode. Start seems pretty random; Mir drops on Kenny and he dies. At the morque he gets filled with Worchestershire Sauce and turns into a zombie. Well, why not? So yeah, it's pretty random plot but it's South Park, what can I expect? There's much of the usual stuff, boys talking at the bus stop, Stan insulting the Mrs. Crabtree and then covering it with some other phrase. There's a costume competition in school and Stan gets fucked up and dressed like Raggety Andy, while almost everybody else is dressed like Chewbacca. Cartman is dressed up like Hitler and his costume is just awesome. He ends up dressing like Ku Klux Klan member after principal Victoria tries to make him a ghost costume. It all ends with boys slicing bunch of zombies to pieces with chainsaws. At the end there's classic scene where boys are at the Kenny's grave. Cartman's mourning in that scene always cracks me up. This is a fair start to the Halloween episodes and I rate it 4/10.

Episode 8: Damien
I thought this episode would come much later, but seems my memory fucked me up. It surely is memorable episode since, after all, it's the ultimate matchup between good and evil. But I don't think it's that funny of an episode. There's lots of decent jokes but nothing that memorable, but I'll give it 3/10 anyway.

Episode 9: Starvin' Marvin
Now were starting to move towards more premium episodes. First funny thing that really strikes is the fatness of Sally Struthers in the middle of the all starving ethiopians. It's a bit too underlined joke maybe, but still works. Then when Cartman is taken to Africa and Marvin taking his place and acting just like Cartman, that's another great moment in this episode. When Chef starts to speak to get everyone get a weapon, he all the sudden moves attention to Kevin, Dr. Mephisto's companion. That is also one part that stood out for me. I guess it's not that funny after all, but it's catched me off guard and you gotta admit that you'll be wondering too "what the fuck is that thing?" Then finally there's the Braveheart spoof at the end, and why not, Chef's of scottish descent after all. All in all, very memorable episode and I give it 6/10.

Revision: ...But I still overrated it, only a bit though. 5/10.

More of Season One (Episodes 3-6)

Let's go on with it.

Episode 4: Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride
This was the first episode to be nominated for Emmy award and it seems as if there's more substance in this episode than in first three. Then there's George Clooney as a quest.. voice-acting a dog. When it comes to being funny, this episode is not up there with the best, but it's funny enough to keep you entertained while delivering the message, "being gay is okay". As a concept, the gay dog is of course amusing. It's a fair episode and I give it 3/10

Episode 5: An Elephant Makes love to a Pig
This episode has many classic moments. Right in the beginning Stan is seen with a black eye and it's revealed that his sister Shelley beats him up all the time. Cartman then comments how he would never get beat up by a girl - and we all know what happened with Wendy in "Breast Cancer Show Ever". It's comical though even without knowing what happens in future episodes, since Cartman just shuts up when Mrs. Crabtree shouts at him to sit down and when Shelley asks "who said that?". Remembering how anti-evolution Mr. Garrison was in "Go God Go", I gotta wonder why he so eagerly teaches about genetic engineering anyway. The whole elephant making love to a pig situation is absurd. The thing what I like most in these early episodes is that there's so much of Chef. Then there's the part where Shelley kicks Stan's ass. Stan gets pretty fucked up. Then there's another appearance of the bullies, Bill and Fosse, along with Terrance. They're just ridicilous characters rambling about everything "being gay". It's a good episode, I'll give it 5/10.

Episode 6: Death
This episode is filled wih toilet humor. In the background there is also of pondering about right to die and some parental advice too. It's not that funny episode, but the fact that it's self-aware makes it all better. I think Kenny's take on parents when Death tries to enter Stan's room is spot on. Nothing else to stay I'd think. Rating 2/10.

Revision: Well, it's close, but I'll promote it up to 3/10. It's all toilet humor, but there's the fact that back then show was blamed from too much of a toilet humor and this might as well be a counter to that.

I'm not too happy with these reviews either, but maybe one can't write all that much from 20 minutes of cartoon where there isn't nothing too complex going on. But I'll aim to make more extensive reviews in the future. That's all for now.

South Park avatar

Well, since I am trying to be some kind of South Park Nerd, I obviously need a South Park avatar, so there it is. I know what you're thinking, "every self-respecting nerd has glasses".. Luckily I have no self-respect. But yeah I'll be back shortly going on the first season.

Well, Here Goes.. Season One (Episodes 1-3)

Alright, time to start watching all the 12 seasons of South Park. We're obviously starting from the very beginning, season one. There's no hurry since the 13th season will not be premiering until march, but I'm just so bad South Park Junkie that I'm probably take an overdose right from the beginning. I'll be giving each episode a review and then rating on scale 1-10. 1 being "Well, it's South Park so it can't be that bad" and 10.. well, *insert insanely positive adjective here*. I'll be giving most episodes probably low rating, but it doesn't mean that the episodes were that bad, I'll just be using this kind of shit scale. I aim that 5 would be average, but well see where it is when this is over.

Season One

Episode 1: Cartman Gets an Anal Probe
Well, there it is. It's crude and simple-looking, well it is nowadays too, but still it's tecnically so bad that I dare to say that South Park has come a long way since this episode - but there is all the basics. Things that are repeated through the series. Kyle and Cartman getting on each other, Kenny dying, Stan puking on Wendy etc. It has really gotten old after already watching the whole series once, but I'll not be too harsh on it, since after all this is the first episode and all these jokes were new when it first aired. There's really not too much to say. Plot involves Kyle's little brother Ike's abduction by aliens, whom had put an anal probe in the Cartman. It could just have been anything. It's pretty hollow setting, but it's still fair episode I'd say. Maybe the best bits were Mrs. Crabtree's shouting (I mean, she looks hysterical) and Stan expression when he sees Wendy. And speaking of expressions, Cartman's scared face when Chef talks about aliens are another thing worthy of mentioning. And oh yeah, the "I Love to Singa" -part is so random that it's good stuff also - haven't seen it too much in newer episodes. But anyway, that's pretty much all I have to say about first episode. As for rating, I'll give it.. 3/10

Episode 2: Weight Gain 4000
Well, now we're getting on with this. Firstly, Chef is just awesome in this episode. Cartman also gets the show really going in this episode. He wins some essay competition and starts to form rivalry with Wendy, a rivalry which we'll see few more times in different forms in future episodes. Cartman has obviously cheated and in the end Wendy proves that only to see that nobody give's a shit. Cartman's classic "Mooom" line is heard for the first time. Cartman is the main catalyst for jokes in this episode, especially when he's making remarks about dolphins and ripping on Wendy on being jealous. Cartman's ass also grows to epic proportions with Weight Gain 4000 while he "gets on shape". The ending line closes a pretty good episode of South Park fittingly; "Follow your dreams. You can reach your goals, I'm living proof... beefcake, BEEFCAKE!". After all that praising, you'd think that rating would be good, but I'll give it a 4/10, just to give some perspective of the scale. It's better than the first one, but there's definitely many more memorable episodes.

Revision: Well, this is the second review, so I obviously had no idea, where the ratings would fall overall. In comparison to other episodes, this episode definitely deserves 5/10.

Episode 3: Volcano
Well, I guess I'm not feeling all that creative tonight, since this episode sparked little thought in me. Jokes are not that effective and the plot is pretty boring. But of course there's some positives always. Chef gets to sing at the end (Chef singing is always positive) and Kenny killing animals and drinking gas is quite amusing. Cartman saying that he has flashbacks from 'Nam was also good one. But yeah not the most thought-provoking episode, although I guess there's supposed to be something about killing animals in the backround. Indeed Ned says that he doesn't ever want to touch a gun again near the end (and accidentally kills Kenny). I rate this episode 2/10, since there are worse episodes out there yet to come.

That's it for tonight, as you can see I wasn't all that productive tonight. But I have to say that there is really not much to say in these early episodes. Let's see if I can write something more meaningful tomorrow.

South Park Nerd

Hi. I'm the South Park Nerd. I'm just a guy who loves South Park and doesn't seem to get enough it. At least nowadays, that is. Don't get me wrong, I don't like everything in South Park. But to be honest I think of it as one of the best shows that there is on tv, if not the best.

I've watched every episode at least once. But now at the same time I start this blog, I'm going to start viewing the whole 12 seasons again - and reflect on my experience of every South Park episode and review every episode. Why am I doing this, you ask? Why the hell can't I just watch the fuckin' episodes? Why I must do some faggy blogging on it?

To be honest, I don't even myself know. I guess that at least part of it is just to find answer to why I like South Park so much as I do, and some of it must be of finding the best and worst episodes. But anyway, I should be doing something useful with my time, instead I'm watching South Park episodes and writing a god damn essays of the episodes. Whatever, I can do what I want.

But enough of that bullcrap about thinking why I am doing this, let's talk something about South Park and my relationship with it. As you probably can tell if you have read this far, I'm a fan of the show. But I've become such only recently. I've known South Park of course pretty much since it started (well, I'd be living under a rock had I not known it) and I always enjoyed watching the show, but not like nowadays. I'd just watch it sometimes when it came on tv (I live in Finland, so it's been on air bit irregurarly and with big delays to american premieres). Only recently I decided to sit through the whole 12 seasons - and now I want to do it again.

Now I guess that since you've read this far, you really do give a crap what I have to say, so let's put in some opinions to finish off this post. My favourite character is obviously Cartman, at least he entertains me most and I guess I'm not alone in this though Cartman is mostly an antagonist in the series. Kenny is my second favourite for some odd reason. If I'd be a South Park character, I'd probably be Tweek. I mean, I'm not that neurotic of course, but I would be if I'd live in South Park.

On the series overall there's only one issue I'd like to address at this point of my shitty blog is my growing disconcern about Cartman & Kyle's relationship. I mean right from the beginning they were always ripping on each other, but it has gotten worse in the newer episodes. I guess I am a pussy, but I like'd the lighter stuff more. There's also other thing about Cartman that distrupts me, but I think I gotta left something to write in future posts too.

Lastly there is this thing that I'm non-native, English is only my second language, so try to understand and not be to harsh, but I don't mind you commenting some grammatical mistakes. Otherwise I'll never learn. Oh yeah and there's this thing, I really would have rather been South Park Fan or something like that, but some retard had taken those blogspots already and I rather just be southparknerd.blogspot.com instead of 666southparkfan666.blogspot.com, if you know what I mean. So nerd it is, just like War Nerd and Angry Video Game Nerd. I wouldn't want to be a nerd, but what can I do? The fact is that I am a fuckin' nerd. It's midnight and I'm sitting at my computer writing some stuff that nobody gives a shit. I'm covered all over in sweat because of intense typing is being too much to my physical condition. All right, that's enough, that's grotesque.

So anyways that't all folks. For now, at least.
