Season Six: Vengeance (Episodes 7-11)

Episode 7: Simpsons Already Did It
This is sweet episode. Professor Chaos is again trying to destroy the world, but every great idea he comes up has already been done by the Simpsons. In the end Butters starts to go nuts and is delusional, which is sweet because we see ridiculous Simpsons-style for a while. Seaciety-idea is interesting, obviously, since Simpsons did it too! Along with the Simpsons-sequences the best moment in this episode is of course the Cartman singing about seapeople. General Disarray's "Simpsons did it" gets stuck in your head after the episode. But yeah this is a very good episode and I'll rate it 7/10.

Episode 8: Red Hot Catholic Love
Another funfest. This episode doesn't hold back, only few seconds into it and you're watching "Catholic Boat" intro from Randy's mind and it's hilarious. Cartman continues his rivalry with Kyle by winning a bet that you can crap out of your mouth. The way he rubs it in is great. "Kyle's money.." And he's even getting a freakin' medal. The whole shitting from your mouth thing is silly, and the Maxi's sublot in vatican isn't that interesting, but when it turns into an Atari game Pitfall and it's ridiculous again. Lastly I got to mention the General Surgeon's speech from the tv, especially the part "And I base that on absolutely nothing" really cracks me up. Good if bit of a crazy episode, I'll rate it 7/10.

Episode 9: Free Hat
This is also a decent episode. It mocks the remaking of films and such, which is good, because that is ass. There's lot less going on in this episode than the few before it, but still there's the "Free Hat" -subplot. Funny that the episode is named Free Hat, since it clearly is the secondary plot in this episode and the main point is about the movie remakes. There's not as much funny shit going on than like last episode, but still some golden moments, like Trey & Matt telling about rerelease of episode 1 and the parody of Raiders of the Lost Ark. I'll rate it 4/10.

Episode 10: Bebe's Boobs Destroy the Society
This is a classic! One of the episodes I have the most fond memories. I've seen it like four times now and it just doesn't lose it's power. It pretty much relies on one joke, but it so good that it's sweet. It's just great stuff. But to be honest, I think my judgement is a bit clouded. I watched this episode originally with my friends and we laughed the shit out ourselves for it, but now when you compare it to other great episodes, it's pretty much at the same level. The boys acting like apes is ludicrous. Their expressions are the best. The guys essays about Bebe are also great. It's so simple really, but yet so funny. The "ahta" stuff is also great. Great stuff. I don't know, I'm giving it 9/10, just fuck it.

This seems like Season Six is going to be the best by some distance, if this keeps up. Let's do one more, at least.

Episode 11: Child Abduction Is Not Funny
This is a dumb episode, and I'm not meaning that in a completely negative way, it's just that when there's something as random as mongolians ripping Great Wall of South Park down, it's really a bit retarded. But this episode has it's moments, the dumbness of this episode really show at the latter half of the episode when the parents send the kids away and find them later as mongolians. I felt just like Stan in the end. It's silly and rather cheap vehicle of humor. I'll still rate this episode 3/10.

I'd like to do more, but I really can't go all day watching South Park, so this is it for now.

Getting the Season Six Underway (Episodes 1-6)

Episode 1: Freak Strike
This is a decent episode. Kenny's dead for good, at least we think of that, so it's kind of a shocker to see him right in the beginning. Except that it's not Kenny, it's really Butters. That pretty much is the catalyst of this episode, Butters trying to prove a point to the other boys, that he can be the fourth member. It's just funny to hear the boys saying lines like "If you're not even putting balls to your chin for your friends.." The best part of the show though is Cartman trying to be the most out of control child. On the other things I don't have much to say, it's such basic South Park stuff. I'll rate it 3/10.

Episode 2: Jared Has Aides
This is pretty good episode. The whole Aides-thing is an endless well of humor. Almost at least. The shitty wok -joke is decent too. Butters keeps on trying to prove a point in this episode and the boys keep exploiting him. Especially Cartman is a real asshole towards him, fucking him up good in the end. But it's really one joke story, it's good that it's pretty good one, because otherwise it would get dull, this just about manages to stay sweet for the 22 minutes. I'll rate this episode.. 4/10.

Episode 3: Asspen
This is a classic. I've seen this episode a bit too many times to really enjoy it to the full extent, but it's still great stuff. Timeshare subplot isn't that interesting, the main thing here's Stan vs. Tad, and the way it unfolds is so irrational that it's great. From there on it's the cliche plot which been seen million times in different movies, but it works because it's so retarded. This episode really stands out for the rest, but does it being different make it really that much better? I don't know, I don't feel like this is the best episode even though we constantly make references to this episode, me & my friends. I mean lines like "Uuuu", and such. It's certainly one of the most memorable ones. I'll give it 8/10 and we'll go on.

Episode 4: The Terrance & Phillip Movie Trailer
Well again it's an unique episode, but like I've said it's not necessarily always good. I mean this episode pretty much is "Russell Crowe Fighting Around the World".. That's retarded! There's some halfdecent jokes thrown in the mix, but nothing too memorable. I really don't have much to say on this episode, since it has not that much content. I'm going to give it 2/10 though, since there's worse episodes than this and Tugger is just random.

Episode 5: Fun With Veal
This is an episode with a message! Sort of. The plot of this episode reminds me of Dog Day Afternoon, don't know if it's intentional reference, but that's pretty intense movie, so it's good thing for this episode. Cartman's negotiation skills come in handy on some ridiculous jokes. I wonder what they did with that missile.. Why didn't they use those guns they got? Again this episode doesn't have that much going on plotwise, but it's well made and deserves a decent rating. So it's 4/10.

Episode 6: Professor Chaos
Another fair episode. Professor Chaos is the lamest supervillain ever, but hey, that's Butters. The different art and Butters' evil faces and all are great. I still like more the The Bachelor-part of the episode, where the boys are desperately trying to find a new Kenny. I've seen for some reason some of the Bachelor and South Park hits right into the spot. Would love to see more of that shit. And Towelie is also a bonus. Every episode with Towelie must be great. It's good stuff, I rate it 6/10.

The Last Three of Season Five

Episode 12: Here Comes the Neigbourhood
I don't know about this one. I kinda like it, but it's again one of those pretty retarded episodes. I mean, they burn "lowecase t" for "time to leave" and "richers" get it. Ok.. It's kind of sweet episode. I especially love Aslam and the rest of the lions. It's again so random and ridiculous that it's great. The other rich kids are just annoying and the boys are just background characters as this episode focuses on Token, which is a bit lame, but still nice variation from standard episode. All in all, it's enjoyable episode and I'll going to rate it 5/10.

Episode 13: Kenny Dies
This is a great episode. It has to be, really, since one of the main character's dies "permanently". Therefore this episode had to be something special and it is. It's so overhelmingly emotional, that you don't know whether to cry with them or laugh at them - and also it's nice contrast to their normal indifference for Kenny's deaths. That really shows you that this is different from the earlier deaths. Also seeing Cartman getting all emotional is ridiculous. Then there's the great dialogue with doctor, where the music plays, and everything is said twice. "Give 'em hell. Give 'em hell." Before that there's also the Cartman's "You're breaking my balls" routine, and seeing Butters do it is also funny as shit. Great stuff. In fact, I like this so much, that I'm going to rise it up to the #1. It gets 9/10, first time in this series. It's close, but at the moment I think that this is better than all of the episodes rated 8.

Episode 14: Butters' Very Own Episode
Like I've said, I'm not that big fan of episodes, where the boys are just background characters. In fact, in this episode you're only see them briefly at the end of the episode. But yeah it's Butters' own episode like title stated and it's pretty fucked up stuff. For me it's a bit of a failure, I don't find most stuff, funny, I mean that gay stuff and Butters' mom getting insane, it just too disturbed. I don't know. Butters is oblivious to all this and in the end when he gets to realise what has been going on is good moment though. End is satisfying in other ways too. So the ending pretty much makes it for this episode and I'll rate it barely 3/10.

And it brings Season Five to a close. It averaged 4,43 and loses tightly to fourth seasons 4,47. Season five was a solid season, which had few peak episodes, but not enough consistency in terms of the episode quality to really beat season four. We'll see what Season Six will bring us in forthcoming reviews.

Hall of fame so far:
Season Four 4,47
Season Five 4,43
Season Three 4,12
Season One 3,92
Season Two 3,33

Another Bit of Season Five (Episodes 8-10)

Episode 8: Towelie
I love Towelie. It's really so bad character that it's great. I love it especially when it gets high. I wonder if that merchandise is really available that appeared in the "commercial" in the middle of the episode. It's not bad episode, there's some really great jokes thrown in the mix. The plot is ridiculous really and now I felt a bit like the boys watching this episode, I didn't care. I just wanted to see Towelie getting high. It all ends well and Towelie doesn't know what's going on.. Wow, this is the worst review ever. I am going to rate it 5/10. I feel bit like Towelie right now.

Episode 9: Osama Bin Laden Has Farty Pants
This is a decent episode also. It's the immediate - only 8 weeks or so - reaction to 9/11. It has some good points like why send one dollar if you're going to bomb the place down and good deal of self-critique. It's funny to see Afghanistan versions of the boys, great idea. Also the Bugs Bunny -style ending is great, it's goofy but it works. Overall it isn't a real classic but still solid episode. It isn't bombing good jokes, but it takes a point on matters. 4/10 is enough I think.

Episode 10: How to Eat With Your Butt
This episode is appalling. I don't even want to talk about those buttheaded people. All I'm going to say is that it's terrible, too disgusting to laugh. I mean it's not that graphic obviously, but still. So I don't care for the main plot of this episode too much, but Cartman's endless laughter at his own jokes at the beginning almost makes you laugh at the Kenny's ass photo. It has some other decent jokes too, like Butters and his faces. So all in all it's not that bad, but I really don't like it either. I'll rate it 2/10.

Episode 11: The Entity
So in this episode Kyle's cousin Kyle comes to visit.. Wait a minute, Kyle? What, did they run out of names? That's nitpicking, though. The other Kyle is extremely (and negatively) stereotyped jew. He's just really frushtrating character, but kind of great at the same time. You'll still be glad to see him go. The other, more prominent plot of this episode revolves around airports and Garrison's fight against them. The "it" is just crazy vehicle, but well, it beats the airports. Some good points there and this is fairly funny episode too. It also ends bluntly, in a good way. I'll rate this 5/10.

A Bit of Season Five (Episodes 5-7)

Episode 5: Terrance & Phillip: Behind the Blow
I've never been a big fan of Terrance & Phillip episodes, but this is still fair episode. After all it has Stan and co. in it so it's not all Terrance & Phillip again. Besides the "Behing the Blow" -thing is kind of interesting. I find it much better than the Earth day -subplot which feels kinda lame. At least the Shakespeare -scene is ridiculous. Nothing too memorable going on but still a decent episode. I rate this episode too 3/10.

Episode 6: Cartmanland
I didn't even remember how great episode this was. I mean I remembered obviously what happens, but not how well it's made. Cartman's nature is portrayed once again well in this episode. Although it's a bit disorienting that he loses it all in the end, but I guess there had to be a way to get everything back to normal, so whatever. Kyle's battle with his faith is just great stuff. And Cartman's reaction when he hears that he has inherited the million dollars.. Classic. It's one of the better episodes, I'll rate it 7/10.

Episode 7: Proper Condom Use
This episode is just nasty. First of all kids beating off dogs, Cartman's condom that's full of pee, everything related to Mr. Mackey and Ms. Choksondik. That's disgusting. But it's still overall a great episode. What makes this episode for me is the final warning from Butters ripped straight off of Mad Max 2. Fuckin' hilarious. But I'm not going to talk about it more, that's pretty much it for this episode. I'll rate it 6/10.

A bit lame reviews this time. Let's see if I make better ones in the future posts, that's it for now.

Season Five Kickstart! (Episodes 1-4)

Fifth season ready to be reviewed next in this minireview style.

Episode 1: Scott Tenorman Must Die
Well, this is very defining episode for Cartman. I'm in a loss of words. Originally I didn't like it since it just goes so far on the ending. Storyline is ok and the episode is fair, but the ending is really what makes all the difference. Not necessarily good difference, but it's just so disturbing that Cartman is such an evil genious that.. fuck. The whole situation in the ending is absurd, but you don't feel like laughing since you're so shocked. There's really more to this episode than the ending, but it's just so fucked up that it's pretty much the only thing you'll remember or think about. Really hard episode to rate, since it's so prominent and memorable episode, but really not that good. I'll rate it 4/10.

Revision: I don't know really. This is just so classic episode and it takes multiple reviews surprisingly well, in fact it seems to get better. Besides, I think there are worse episodes in the 5/10 rating, so I might as well notch it up to it too.

Episode 2: It Hits the Fan
This is one of those episodes that I don't remember what's it about when I see the title. There's good reason for that too, because it is rather forgettable episode overall. Of course they say shit 162 and all that and the Geldon's voice is ridiculous, but that's about it. It's not the worst episode, but rather uninteresting, so let's go on. I rate this 2/10.

Episode 3: Cripple Fight!
The fifth season goes on a bit slowly. This is at least fairly memorable episode, if nothing else. The title pretty much says what's this episode is all about, even though there's the background of gay rights in the episode. But yeah the fight.. It's nothing special, entertaining the watch, but you're not looking for that kind of stuff in South Park. There are some fine jokes, like Cartman going around announcing about cripple fight and Timmy's nice photoshop to get rid of Jimmy. I'll rate this 3/10.

Episode 4: The Super Best Friends
What about this.. Well at least it sprouted some controversy when the episode aired like so many of South Park episodes, since it shows not only Jesus, but Muhammad, Joseph Smith, Krishna, Lao Tzu, Buddha and Moses. There's many flat out weird things in this episode, like Blaine's talking style and the end fight. I mean what the fuck, giant stone Abraham Lincoln vs. giant stone John Wilkes Booth? It's again little too absurd for me. But it's not that bad episode really although there's some wtf factor in it. I'll rate this 3/10 too.

I think that's plenty for today.

Season Four - Vengeange (Episodes 13-17)

It's been a while since last post. I got a bit depressed due to 13th season starting before I got these even halfway, so I forgot about it altogether. Besides I have had bit busy schedule recently. I actually don't have time now either, but I don't feel like doing anything useful, so I try to get this show going on again.

Oh, one thing. About the 13th season. Haven't watched a single episode yet. For some reason Scandinavians can't watch the online from southparkstudios.com, so I'm fucked. Gotta wait for torrents, probably gonna download them all at once and review in the same style in distant future.

Let's go then.

Episode 13: Trapper Keeper
So this is the classic Terminator-spoof. It also has a host of references to other science fiction films also, like 2001: A Space Odyssey and Aliens. It is very memorable episode, I'm not sure how many times I've seen it, but I remembered it quite well so it was out of it's best kick. Cartman is in the spotlight once again being the kid whose trapper keeper practically destroys the world. It's again traditional Cartman vs. Kyle -setup as Cartman has the better Trapper Keeper. The way he boasts about once again creates most of the episode's humor. The Rosie O'Donnell-joke is so bad it's good. The subplot with Kindergarten voting is otherwise kinda boring, but it's not downright bad, though. I'm going to rate this 5/10.

Episode 14: Helen Keller - The Musical
I've seen this episode on some listing as one of the worst episodes there has been, and to be honest it isn't that good. But not that bad either, it has some things going well for it. Like the scene where we get a peek inside Cartman's mind - that's pretty fucked up stuff. There's also the "emotional" scene where Timmy must drive Gobbles away. Also the Butters running -scene is funny, it's from movie "The Right Stuff" (haven't seen it). Most of the stuff in this episode is annoying though. Musical scenes are just dumb and make you cringe. Also the subplot with the other turkey is boring. But at least the ending is satistfactory. I'll rate this episode 3/10.

Episode 15: Fat Camp
This is a good episode, definitely best from what I've reviewed so far in this session. Cartman going to a fat camp is obvious setup for an episode. But he's not getting thinner, hell no. The other fat people are amusing. Cartman profits of course from the fat camp by smuggling in some candy and selling it to other kids. The scene where Cartman is comforting the crying kid with candy is just classic Cartman-stuff. Also there's the Kenny doing anything -subplot, which is approriate and works quite well. Especially since Chef gets to sing about prostitutes! Great stuff. The ending is pretty grotesque, though. Rating is kind of tough.. I'll lean towards 7/10.

Let's do one more. Shit, let's do two more, no point leaving just one episode of the season unreviewed.

Episode 16: Wacky Molestation Adventure
This is a fascinating and enthralling episode. I didn't know the other references, but the Mad Max -stuff is there to see and you really easily see that other stuff is also referencing to something. Now I have read those other references, but I'm not going over them here, there's shitload of them. But yeah it's a great episode. Kyle bringing democracy to Cuba and all that stuff is a great prologue to it and when the town is finally empty of the adults, the episode really gets started. The atmosphere is just amazing. It's mysterious and a bit horrorful too and those references keep you entertained all the time. You get so drawn into the situation that you completely forget about the parents, until there's the bit shown of them from the prison. Finally you get smacked on the face by the fact that it's only ten days since parents were taken away. It ends obviously with all the parents thinking that they really molested their children. Rating is a tough job once again. The threshold of giving a 9/10 is getting bigger and bigger, since giving a nine to any episode would make it the best episode so far. I can't really say that this is the best episode so far, although it's close. So let's go again for the 8/10.

Revision: Just too much, 7/10 is more approriate. Still think it's a great episode.

Episode 17: A Very Crappy Christmas
A good christmas special. It starts kind of slow, but since it has some really good shit it's acceptable. I mean shit, because this episode is full of it. Obviously it's Mr. Hankey again being in the spotlight. His family is nice addition to the series. Some nice scenes also between then, especially "The Circle of Poo" or whatever, I just can't help but to smile during it. There's some other good stuff in this episode too. There's the thing about making the cartoon which is a pain in the ass, obviosly parodizing Matt & Trey's first cartoon "Jesus vs. Santa" from which we're also shown part in this episode. A solid ending to the season, I'll rate it 5/10.

That's the conclusion of Season Four. It averaged rating of 4,47 and beats Season Three. It just keeps getting better. I just hope the next season does the same.

Current standings:
Season Four 4,47
Season Three 4,12
Season One 3,92
Season Two 3,33
